Whether you are building, renovating or redecorating, there are many options available when it comes to choosing your floor coverings.

Bamboo is becoming the flooring of choice because it has an enduring quality, is hard wearing and is suitable for both domestic and commercial applications.

Although bamboo is technically a grass, it is classified as a timber flooring product, yet significantly outperforms traditional timbers in terms of its durability and price.

Why Bamboo?

Aesthetically Bamboo is becoming popular with architects, interior designers and homeowners because it has unique textures and colours.

Technically it’s popularity is due to the manufacturing process which ensures that bamboo is one of the hardest natural flooring products available on the market. The bamboo fibres are compressed under immense pressure and then coated with up to 10 coats of an extremely resilient and hard wearing Polyurethane coating which is then UV cured. These processes give the boards amazing stamina for commercial and high activity areas.

Bamboo……..
Is allergy free;
Is environmentally friendly;
Is harder than traditional timber flooring (15.3kN on the Janka Scale vs 8.6kN for Jarrah timber);
Is Resilient to temperature changes
repels termites.

However, above all these extraordinary features are merely the technical benefits of bamboo flooring. When you walk into a room floored in bamboo, you truly do catch your breath. There is a quality, warmth and feel created entirely by the floor itself.

The system arrives as a finished product, already coated, so there is no unnecessary mess or dangerous fumes normally associated with onsite sanding and polishing. This makes it ideal for refurbishment projects. It can be laid over existing flat floor tiles.

Decisions, Decisions

There are a number of factors to consider when choosing your bamboo floor.

Colouring – Our ever evolving range includes as as many as 25 different colours, from light natural colours to reds, greys, browns and black.
Finish – Our boards are available in matt, satin or semi-gloss finish with smooth, distressed or textured surfaces.
Quality – Being a manufactured product, the quality of the finished bamboo board is highly dependent not only on the quality of the raw materials used in the manufacture of the flooring, but in the manufacturing process itself. Style Plantation only sources it’s flooring from factories using the highest quality materials available and we offer both hot and cold pressed product – each with their own unique benefits
Suitability – is the flooring you choose suitable for the intended installation area? Is it a high traffic area, or exposed to the elements?
Durability – Bamboo flooring (particularly the strand-woven bamboo flooring) is an extremely durable flooring choice for any location subjected to high usage.
Cost – Bamboo flooring compares favourably against premium grade hardwood timbers, used for flooring applications
Ease of maintenance – one of the many benefits of bamboo flooring is its ease of maintenance. Bamboo flooring is extremely durable and resilient, and therefore does not require much in the way of special care or maintenance – see Care and Maintenance Guidelines.
